Joining Furze Down

Starting a new school is an important step for children and families.

This page explains how admissions work at Furze Down.

Admissions

Furze Down School is a specialist school for children and young people aged 4–19 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Admissions are managed by Buckinghamshire Council through the EHCP consultation and placement process.

Therapy and Specialist Support

Furze Down has an experienced team of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapy Assistants.
Each class is supported by its own Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist, who work alongside teachers and support staff in classrooms and outdoor spaces.
Therapy is integrated into everyday learning, helping pupils develop communication, participation, independence and life skills in meaningful contexts.
Support is personalised around each pupil's strengths, communication profile, aspirations and individual needs.

Enquiries

Please read all information on this page before contacting the school.
Due to the high number of enquiries we receive, we are unable to offer individual visits before a formal consultation has been received from the Local Authority.
This helps us maintain a calm, positive learning environment for all pupils.

Visiting the School

Visits usually take place after the school has received a consultation request from the Local Authority.
Where possible, visits take place on planned visit days and outside teaching hours.
